Fish
Fish with acrylics and coloured pencils. Ulla Hennig September 2012
This is really a mixed media piece. I began with acrylics, but lost the courage to finish it. Everytime I looked at it I felt something like a reproach in the eye of the fish, and a few days ago I asked myself: Why not finish it with colored pencils? I didn’t know at all whether it would work, but it did.
Of course the acrylic paints are still showing under the colored pencils, as you can see with the rocks on the right and left side. But I like that; those rocks are underwater and have to be a bit greenish; same as with the yellow on top of the painting where the sun is supposed to hit the surface of the water.
