This is a painting in pastel colors I did quite some time ago. Seagulls fighting over a fish. This aggressivity is part of nature, but most of the time it is just threatening the other guy (seagull, sparrow, dog, whatsoever), and not killing him.
These days the going-ons in the Georgien Republik prove that man not only threatens. He also kills. Let us all hope that the conflict will be settled without further killings.

Ulla, you are a very talented painter. The conflict in Georgia is very serious, hopefully not a sign of things to come in that area.
Interesting how the subject matter reflects the reality of the conflict in Georgia. I think you’ve done a wonderful work here, Ulla. You have real talent! (Not that I didn’t think that would be the case!) Keep it up!
Brad and Robert,
just now I’ve learnt two things:
I am not the only one being alarmed about what’s going on in Georgia (I knew this already, but it is a very good feeling to get confirmed in that knowledge).
Taking my heart in my hand and showing you one of my paintings was the right thing to do. I will do so more often! Thanks for your encouragement!
I’m very glad to see your art, and am also very glad to hear your voice speaking up for the plight of others. Both take courage, eh?
Is that not what we do as artists? We reach inside our souls and bring to the light new creation. Our creation. And, as we reach into our souls to release our own creation, we discover that our souls are all connected. For those of us who have words on our palette, it is perhaps inevitable that we will use them.
Thank you, Ulla, for what you do.
Hi Ulla. You certainly have eye and talent for creating a powerful picture. I hope you will show more of your drawings now and then. It is also very interesting to see your photos of Berlin, – I will come back!
The picture has life. Didn’t know you were an artist too
They’re such nasty critters, aren’t they?
Aggressive, bullying,selfish, greedy.
Why can’t they be more like ducks?
Great picture! Thank you. I’m afraid I’m pessimistic about what’s happening in Georgia. Russia wants to reassert its power…who is going to stop them? What, if anything, do you (and your countrymen/women) think about the new missile defense pact between Poland and the U. S.?
Friar, You write
“They’re such nasty critters, aren’t they?
Aggressive, bullying,selfish, greedy.
Why can’t they be more like ducks?”
Are you writing about seagulls or people?
What a great painting, I agree with the first comment, you are a talented painter.
Ulla, the painting is beautiful and so appropriate for the current conflict. Praying for sustained peace.
что касается темы, то мне кажется актуальность будет известна только через некоторое время
Great imagery. Very natural and well composed.
This is a fantastic picture. I draw in pastels sometimes too, but I’m nowhere near as good as this. I stick to landscapes, I wouldn’t know where to start with animals or birds.
The whole Georgian situation is getting even more complicated now. I don’t know much about the Caucasus, but I do know Moldova pretty well which also has a pro-Russian separatist region, I’m worried about what might end up happening there too.
PS I forgot to say, thank you for your comments on Glasgow Daily Photo – I’m glad you like the pictures!
I am delighted in your art as well as your photography and I am so worried that the US is making the Georgia situation. The world seems in such transition to me and yet nature remains within it’s instinct. I wonder why human instinct is not peace?
Wonderful imagery for a grave problem.
