Around Berlin there are a lot of forests. I like the light and the shadow in these forests. It makes me think of the light and shadows in our lives. There may be big dark patches, but there are always sunny spots, and sometimes there are more sunny spots than you might think.

Up in eastern part of Texas there are woods very similar to these. I spent many a summer day wandering around them, enjoying the play of light and shadows on the trees, ground, and the occasional squirrel. There’s something about the way the woods absorbs sound, giving the whole place a quiet, secret place. Very refreshing, very peaceful.
Thanks for tweaking the ol’ memory banks this morning, Ulla!
Robert,
isn’t it wonderful to have so much in common? The occasional squirrel (ours are red, you know) – I happenend to meet one today, hopping merrily around.
Beautiful spot, Ulla, and your ideas gave me something to think about! Looks quiet and peaceful, the perfect place to relax or think.
We have red squirrels, and occasionally black ones. Then there’s raccoons, armadillos, snakes, and various other sundry critters… I think I’ll go back inside now.
The tranquility to be encountered in a forest or stand of trees is a treasure to be preserved. The image you have captured is lovely!
[Note: something about this picture captured my attention...]
I like that…”sometimes there are more sunny spots than you might think.” That’s so true! Sometimes, all we need to do is take a step back and observe in order to really see that (we go through life on autopilot a lot of the time).
Ulla: I love your introspectiveness on your blog. And your photos are beautiful, too!
